The Western Coatings Societies Biennial Symposium and Show

Originally the brainchild of the Los Angeles and Golden Gate Societies for Coatings Technology, the Western Coatings Societies Biennial Symposium and Show, born in the early 1950s, is organized and managed today in partnership with the Pacific Northwest and Arizona societies.

The Show has quickly become one of the coatings industry’s premier events.

Based in California for most of its 60 years, the show was moved briefly to Reno, Nevada. In 2004 Arizona and the Pacific Northwest were asked to take a permanent planning role and, after much debate, the decision was made to move to Las Vegas.

Over 1200 attendees flock to The Strip in October of every odd-numbered year to take advantage of valuable information presented over three days by a diverse line-up of speakers on a wide range of technical subjects.

Although the vast majority of those who attend are westerners, the show’s technical lineup, accessible format, and reasonable cost appeal to people from all over North America and internationally.

Students from several colleges in the United States design posters to display the latest results of their ongoing research.

A lavish Welcome Reception (complete with complementary dinner and beverages) on Sunday evening provides attendees with the opportunity to network and enjoy the camaraderie of their peers while being entertained at one of hottest venues in Vegas.

Keynote speakers and panelists on both Monday and Tuesday focus on topics of up-to-date interest to the industry.  A three day technical program offers over 100 presentations over five tracks.

Tradeshow hours on Monday and Tuesday provide time for our attendees to connect with over 150 exhibitors.  The technical talks and exhibition hours never overlap, maximizing the audience for both events and allowing attendees to experience the entire show.

Complementary lunch and late afternoon snacks are served Monday and Tuesday during the tradeshow, as well as complementary lunch on Wednesday and late afternoon beverages.

The WCS Samson-Adler Distinguished Service Award was introduced in 2009. Named for Mr. Maurice Samson (Los Angeles) and Mr. Barry Adler (San Francisco) in recognition of their pioneering efforts during the earliest days of the WCS, the award distinguishes an individual for lifetime service to their society, the WCS and the coatings industry in general.

Las Vegas has it all – professional conference facilities, a dining experience for every palate and an endless supply of entertainment for every taste.

Come join us in the other city that never sleeps! Come to the WCS in Las Vegas and experience our hospitality!
