Make A Wish Golf Tournament 2022

It’s with great pleasure to send this email summarizing the 2022 Portland Charity Classic Tournament benefiting Make-A-Wish (MAW).  As most of you know, it’s unfortunate that the godfather of this event, Kevin O’Leary, couldn’t attend due to health issues.  Word is that he’s on the mend so please send all the positive vibes & prayers as possible.

The PNWSCT would like to thank everyone that volunteered, sponsored, & attended the event.  This includes individual efforts by Doug Ritsema, Ema Hoxha, Brett Cowman, & Eric Jenkins as well as company generosity of EPS/SPI, Tarr, TCR, IMCD, OMYA, & System Three Resins.  If we missed someone please let us know so it doesn’t go unnoticed.

After all the pennies were counted, we were able to donate $3,558.97 thereby creating a running total of $129,067.49 for this event!

Until next year!

Puget Sound Section Christmas Luncheon and Toy Drive

This year Puget Sound Section held our Annual Christmas Luncheon and Toy drive December 3rd  at the River Rock Restaurant in Renton Washington.

There were 27 in attendance and several that could not make it at the last minute.

We branched out a bit and invited friends who had interest in donating and joining us in kicking off the Holiday Spirit!

Ted & Robyn Garrett are integrally involved in The Forgotten Children’s Fund and we asked Ted to speak about the Charity and how our charitable donations benefit the group.  Everyone was in agreement that the organization is fantastic and our donations are going to a very worthy cause.

Paul Sheehan introduced all the Retirees and tallied up all the active and retired members years in business.  He told stories about many past events and a few comical, yet embarrassing moments.   Everyone appreciated the long history in our group and enjoyed the camaraderie.

All said and done and after all charges were satisfied, our group collected appx 50 unwrapped gifts and a total of $1.825.00 in cash donations.

December 1, 2022 has been selected for next year’s Luncheon.  We will again branch out to include those not in our industry and plan to make some more inclusive moves for everyone.  I hope things change so more people can attend and share in our Charitable efforts and enjoy the company of very charitable friends.  Bev Spears Please summarize and send this out to our Membership.

2021 Portland Charity Classic Tournament for Make-A-Wish

After a one year hiatus from holding a golf tournament, we came together and resumed the event this past September. Right from the start, I would like to thank Eric Jenkins, Doug Ritsema, Pete Cutrona and Ema Hoxha as individuals and the PNWSCT organization for helping put the show together. Without their push it wouldn’t have happened.

This year, the group was mostly local PNW people, with an exception of a couple of SoCal people and an Idaho participant. I thank all of the players it a small but lively group. I would like to personally thank my good friend, Jim Calkin formerly of ET Horn, for his generous heart and donation, what a good man. I would like to thank Ravago Chemicals, IMCD, TCR, Systems Three Resins, JF Shelton, Specialty Polymers, Tempo Chemicals, Lubrizol Chemicals and Miller Paint Company. These companies continue to support this event and have so for some time. All of the participants again, thank you. It’s not much of a tournament if no one shows. Also thanks to Glendoveer Golf Course for the use of the course and Van Ebert Brew Pub for catering the event.

This year we were able to collect $6296.28. Though down a little from the past 3 years. It is an awesome amount. Make-A-Wish is extremely grateful. This added to last year’s total of $119,212.24 comes to $125,508.52 in total donations to Make-A-Wish. What an awesome effort!

There will be a tournament for 2022 so be ready for it!

 Sincerely and with great thanks,

Kevin O’Leary
